Actually fun fact, mosquitoes are one of the few species that if they went extinct, the ecosystem wouldn’t be affected very much and no real harm would come from removing mosquitoes entirely !

I’m not bugblr, but I AM a big fan of the environment and reptiles in particular. As such, I’ve made an amateur study of their prey, including mosquitoes and LET ME TELL U, the environment would be FUCKED UP without these horrible bloodsuckers.
Blood is incredibly nutrient rich, which makes mosquitoes wonderful little happy meals for all sorts of animals including lizards, bats, birds, and other insects. They also don’t JUST drink blood! That’s just for pregnant mosquitoes—-they’re also incredibly vital pollinators. There are species of plants that rely HEAVILY on mosquito pollination!
Their larva are also important food sources for fish and other water-dwelling animals. Anything that preys on them would also suffer.
so, yeah, mosquitoes are fucking awful, but they’re also vitally important. If I remember right, this article was about one INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC species of mosquito (Aedes aegypti, I think), not all mosquitoes in the world.
FTR, mosquitoes don’t even generally like human blood. They take it, but they tend to prefer birds. This is why mosquitoes are such a huge issue in Hawaii.

This adorable little robot is designed to make sure its photosynthesising passenger is well taken care of. It moves towards brighter light if it needs, or hides in the shade to keep cool. When in the light, it rotates to make sure the plant gets plenty of light. It even likes to play with humans.
Oh, and apparently, it gets antsy when it’s thirsty.
The robot is actually an art project called “Sharing Human Technology with Plants” by a roboticist named Sun Tianqi. It’s made from a modified version of a Vincross HEXA robot, and in his own words, it’s purpose is “to explore the relationship between living beings and robots.”
I don’t care if it’s silly. I want one.
